Credits in Bonnet
Credits are used in the Bonnet mobile and desktop apps to refresh your vehicle’s information with the most up-to-date data from the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA). This includes Warrant of Fitness (WOF), Certificate of Fitness (COF), vehicle registration (REGO), and Road User Charges (RUC) expiry dates.
Because NZTA charges a fee for this data, Bonnet uses a credit system to help cover those costs. Bonnet then uses this data to send you smart notifications when your expiry dates are approaching – or when you’re nearing your RUC limit.
Free Vehicles in Bonnet
We designed Bonnet to be useful for everyone – from families with a car or two to small businesses managing a handful of vehicles. That’s why both our Free and Premium Plans include two free Premium vehicles, complete with all premium features and credits to refresh your vehicle data with NZTA.
The first two vehicles you add (under both Free and Premium plans) are completely free to manage and include free credits to update your info throughout the year.
Add Machines for Free & Track Engine Hours
We have added the ability to add free machines in Bonnet such as tractors, excavators, forklifts – even air compressors! If it is serviced on engine hours, then you can add it to Bonnet.
Simply use the “Add Machine” button in the vehicle-list screen, fill in the details, and you’re away.
Bonnet normally requires a number plate to add vehicles to the app, however we recognised that some vehicles and assets do not have number plates, but still require servicing based on engine hours. Particularly farm and industrial equipment including tractors, front-end loaders, or generators. In most cases these machines are not required to be road registered, but they still require regular servicing.

If you choose an Annual Plan for Premium or Fleet, you’ll receive a 10% discount.
Consolidated Invoicing
Our latest update introduces consolidated invoicing for users with multiple vehicles. Previously, invoices were issued per vehicle. Now, all your vehicles are included in a single monthly or annual invoice.
To activate this, simply update your Bonnet mobile app and log in. A message will confirm that your invoices are now consolidated – and you’ll begin receiving one invoice for all vehicles on your account.
Automatic Payments When Adding Vehicles
Once you’re on a paid plan, any additional vehicles added to your account will be automatically charged on a pro rata basis in your next invoice. Easy, seamless, and all in one place.
