A letter from our founder..
Dear Potential Investors,
I’m Steph Kennard, Co-founder and CEO of Bonnet. My journey with Bonnet started from a personal passion for the automotive industry, deeply rooted in my upbringing in New Zealand. My uncle, Dave Blyth, was a pioneer in automotive software and web development, and growing up around motorsport and technology fueled my drive to innovate.
In 2022, after years of watching drivers struggle with compliance using outdated, cumbersome methods, I knew it was time for a change. That’s when Bonnet was born – an intuitive, powerful tool designed to simplify vehicle compliance, saving drivers time, money, and stress.
Shortly after our launch of our app, we had hundreds of fleets asking us to build an online version, which led to the launch of our web application. This platform is now used by hundreds of fleets across New Zealand, who previously managed their fleet compliance using spreadsheets. Bonnet provides peace of mind by ensuring fleets are compliant, insured, and that drivers are safe.
Bonnet has grown rapidly, now managing over 53,000 vehicles in New Zealand. We’re gearing up to expand globally, targeting a $20 billion market. As electric vehicles and new regulations increase worldwide, the need for effective compliance solutions grows. Governments are implementing Road User Charges (RUCs), further complicating the compliance landscape.
The funds raised will be used to accelerate sales and marketing in New Zealand, further develop Bonnet’s hardware-free vehicle connection feature – directly connecting vehicle computers to Bonnet via API – and prepare for expansion into the UK, where upcoming RUC regulations and strict compliance requirements create a significant opportunity.
